guess which one…
To this day, I can’t quite figure out who I am exactly. Talk about a sad statement.
I was born in Morocco, grew up on Michael Jackson, got obsessed with the Punk culture in the 90′s, then followed it along into the next decade while I studied architecture in Kansas and then worked in Chicago. Somewhere between these last two phases, I picked up photography. By the time I was settled in Chicago, I had a darkroom installed in my apartment, and a pretty ridiculous collection of cameras – many of which didn’t work, or didn’t get used much.
Sometime along the way, this blog, too, was born. Just like its creator, it lacks definition, but is in constant search for one. If I can convey just that, then I’ve done half the job.
My work was published in a fair amount of outlets, mainstream and independent, which is an always-amazing fact to me. Talent is one thing, but in the end, it’s always who you know, and in that respect I’d like to think all of my friends, who know who they are.
The financial crisis forced me to leave the US in 2010, and sell a good amount of my equipment, as well as reflect on a multitude of questions.
Back on the architecture work force in Morocco, I’m finding myself taking less photos, but also (perhaps as a result) give much more importance to the few shots that I take and work more on them. Right now, I’m looking to have my first Moroccan exhibition.
To be continued, always.
